Atelier tools
These are atelier notes, not a clinic. Pick the swatch closest to you in daylight. Jewel tones and zari usually help; dusty greys rarely do.
Pick the closest skin
The most common Indian undertone — neither pink nor strongly golden.
Almost every atelier colour works. Pick for the function, not fear. Stark optical white can flatten — ivory is kinder.

Use with care
Wheatish skin takes almost every atelier colour. Jewel red, maroon, bottle green, navy, gold, and rani pink are the most reliable. Prefer ivory over stark white.
Saturated colour and zari: gold, saffron, emerald, teal, true red, and ivory. Dusty grey and pale beige tend to disappear. Contrast is more important than “lightening” the skin.
Yes, as a border or a haldi yellow with a maroon or green blouse. A full neon orange field can turn cool-fair skin sallow. Warm-fair skin handles peach and mustard more easily.
